Act 5: “The Forrest Will Burn”

I stood beside the charring grove,
The heat still radiates.
My soles covered in ash today.
They’d never felt its grit.

I slowly knealt beside what was.
If only love could resurrect.
My eyes covered in ash today.
They’d never felt this flood.

I hugged the earth and wept for you.
The forest, it will burn.
My clothes covered in ash today
They’d never felt so rough.

I took a breath to be my last,
No oxygen. No flame.
Some seedlings sprouted in ash today.
They’d never felt but life.
